Martenicka Bracelet
Martenitsa is an ornament made of white and red wool, worn starting from March 1st until the end of the month. Traditional Baba Marta (Grandma Marta) days begin with the arrival of spring. On this day, Bulgarians gift these symbols, called “martenitsa,” to their loved ones and friends with wishes for health and strength throughout the year. According to tradition, martenitsas are worn until a swallow or a stork is seen.
