Martenicka Bracelet
Martenitsa is an ornament made of white and red wool, worn from March 1st until the end of March. With the arrival of spring, the traditional Baba Marta (Grandma Marta) days begin. On this day, Bulgarians gift these symbols, called "martenitsa," to their relatives and friends with wishes for health and strength throughout the year. According to tradition, martenitsas are worn until a swallow or stork is seen.
