How to Care for Your Nails?

You don't always need to go for a manicure or pedicure to have strong, healthy, and clean nails. You can achieve the same results with self-care at home. Furthermore, regularly cleaning your nails helps prevent bacteria from entering the nail beds.

First of all, to prevent nails from losing their strength, you should avoid excessive filing. The file used and the filing method can cause nails to get damaged and break. Before using a file, hands should be soaked in warm water, and filing should only be done once the nails have softened.

Home Nail Care and Strengthening Methods

Lemon and Olive Oil;

Mix 6 drops of lemon juice with 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Soak your nails in this mixture for about 10 minutes. While the olive oil takes care of nourishing your nails, the lemon will strengthen them and prevent breakage.

Baking Soda Care;

Add one tablespoon of baking soda to a glass of water and stir. Dip your nails into this mixture and wait for about 15 minutes. This process, which you can do 3 times a week, will help strengthen your nails.

Apple cider vinegar helps clean bacteria from inside the nails. It also strengthens your nails and prevents them from breaking. Add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and hot water into a bowl. Soak your nails in this mixture for about 10 minutes. Afterward, you can proceed to rinse them.

Tips for Well-Groomed Nails

Use of Nail Files;

Nails do not like files very much. Therefore, you should avoid constant filing for shaping; after trimming with scissors, use the file only to smooth out rough edges. Also, clearer and easier shapes can be achieved by using scissors. It is necessary to soften the nails before using a file.

Cuticles;

Cutting cuticles is both unhealthy and causes them to keep growing back continuously. Cuticles should never be cut. Instead, they should be pushed back. Do not allow your cuticles to be cut, even when getting care at a beauty salon.

Nail Polish Use;

We all love polished nails more; that is an undeniable fact. However, although nail polish looks nice, it is one of the main factors that damage nails. Therefore, spending at least 2 days a week without polish and using nourishing oils before applying polish will ensure your nails suffer less damage.
