Different gemstones have different physical properties. This means they can react very differently to heat, light, acids, and scratching.

Some natural stones are sensitive to heat, while others may react strongly to chemicals. On the other hand, some natural stones are quite durable. However, warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth are the safest cleaning materials for almost all natural stones.

First, soak your jewelry for a few minutes in warm water with 2-3 drops of detergent or cleaning solution. Gently wipe the natural stone with a soft cloth.

Organic natural stones are delicate. Organic natural stones like pearls and coral require special care because they are porous. Make sure not to expose them to chemicals found in hair products, perfumes, and cosmetics.

Cleaning your gemstones after they get dirty is only one part of proper care. Pre-use care is also important.

Apply your hairsprays and perfumes before putting on your jewelry. These chemicals not only dull the shine of gemstones but are also quite damaging to some natural stones that react strongly to acid and alcohol, such as pearls.
