Our Striped Necklace Collection and the History of Striped Patterns: Iconic Coco Chanel
If there is one item that most of us probably carry in our closets, it is our classic striped garments.
Typically described as a sailor-style striped blouse, the style was introduced in 1858 as a uniform for the French Navy and has since survived all sorts of flashy fashion trends. After a trip to the French coast, Coco Chanel noticed the striped garments! The iconic designer was so inspired by the sailors' uniform that she incorporated stripes into her 1917 nautical collection. The casual design helped break away from the restrictive corset fashion of the time, changing everyday women's fashion forever.
Striped items are now as essential as a black blazer or our savior jeans. They are patterns that can fit many outfits, can be styled either simply or as a statement piece, and can adapt to any outfit or occasion, day or night.
After Coco Chanel's iconic debut, it began to be used in many places. In the Hollywood movie starring Marlon Brando in 1953, in the 1955 film starring James Dean, and in the iconic outfit we saw on Audrey Hepburn in the 1956 movie "Funny Face"...
We also frequently see photos of artist Pablo Picasso in a striped t-shirt.
And of course, the stylish striped outfit we see on Kate Middleton...
With all these designs catching our attention, we at Bonjouk Studio wanted to add striped patterned products to our collection. Our striped collection, which excites us greatly and which we wear with great joy, was designed with inspiration from history, fashion, and iconic designs.
